Biography
Robert H. Woods, Ph.D. is the most-cited scholar and the second-most prolific author in hospitality management education. Woods has written more than 130 referred articles and three textbooks, including, "Managing Hospitality Human Resources," "Quality Leadership and Management," and "Job Description Handbook for the Club Managers Association of America." He has also authored numerous book chapters.
In 2000 Woods moved to the Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to start a program in timeshare and vacation ownership management. Today, Woods teaches three courses in timeshare/vacation ownership management at UNLV: 1)
Introduction to the Timeshare/Vacation Ownership Industry, 2)
Marketing, Sales and Development of Timeshares, and 3) Strategic Planning in the Timeshare and Vacation Ownership Industry. Through his efforts UNLV offers the largest on-campus college offering of timeshare courses in the U.S., and likely the world. The Harrah College at UNLV has more than 2,000 undergraduate hospitality management students, 100 graduate students and nearly 50 faculty.
Woods has consulted extensively on strategic management, training and human resources with national and international companies and associations. He earned both his doctoral degree and his master's degree from The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. His undergraduate degrees are from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to moving to UNLV Woods as a professor at Purdue University (1998-2000) and Michigan State University (1989-1998).
